WHAT'S NEW?

The City of Deer Park LEPC highlights these past, present, and future LEPC activities -- plus our on-going projects:

You are invited to attend any Deer Park LEPC meetings at 11 am on the fourth Tuesday of each month (except July and December).  Meetings are held in City Council Chambers at Deer Park City Hall located at 710 East San Augustine in Deer Park.  Minutes of previous LEPC meetings are available on the Meetings page.  For a map or driving directions, click HERE.
Pick up a free copy of the LEPC's 2009 Calendar in the Lobby of Deer Park City Hall at 710 East San Augustine in Deer Park.  The calendar provides information about the LEPC, Pipeline Safety, Security and Personal Protection from terrorism, and how to contact City Officials.  The calendar features some of "the best Calendar photos" taken since 1992. 
The City of Deer Park tests the Outside Alarm System at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.  For details about the city's warning systems, click HERE.
Deer Park ISD schools begin August 24, 2009.  Parents and teachers can review the latest guidance on the H1N1 (Swine) flu from the CDC's official website at www.flu.gov

Hundreds of children received a free photo with the LEPC's Shelter-In-Place mascot Wally Wise Guy at the Totally Texas Festival held every April at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center at 500 West 13th Street in Deer Park.  
You can download a FREE PowerPoint presentation where Wally Wise Guy will teach you how to Shelter In Place.  You must have PowerPoint software on your computer.  

You and your children can learn how to Shelter In Place from reading Wally's Story then taking Wally's Interactive Quiz.  Find out which member of your family can answer the most questions correctly!
Radian Corporation conducted an LEPC-funded study to evaluate the effectiveness of Shelter In Place.

You can safely dispose of old paint, pesticides, and other products at the LEPC's Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day at the City of Deer Park Transfer Station at 610 Underwood Road in Deer Park.  Plans for the next Collection Day are still being developed.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality monitors current Ozone Levels for the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria areas including Deer Park.  For the latest data, click HERE.

The Deer Park LEPC won the top national award for Excellence from the Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF) in both 2004 and 2007.  To view the News Release, click HERE.
More than 600 personnel from the City of Deer Park, Bayshore Medical Center, Deer Park ISD, Channel Industries Mutual Aid and 45 other organizations participated in the 2006 Full Scale Exercise in October 2006.  For more details or to view a free 2-minute sample of the LEPC's Exercise Video, click HERE
