WELCOME
FROM THE MAYOR
Deer
Park Residents:
The Deer
Park Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) continues to
make our city a safe place to live. The LEPC is composed of
industry representatives, city and school district officials,
police and fire personnel, and interested citizens whose goal
is to prevent emergencies, and to prepare the community to
best protect itself in the event a chemical emergency occurs.
This web
site is one such example. It contains instructional pages
and important information you should know in the event of
a chemical emergency. Each of us has a personal responsibility
to protect our families and ourselves by knowing what to do
in a chemical emergency.
The LEPC
has hosted a series of community meetings where industry
demonstrated its current prevention plans for protection against
catastrophic events. They highlighted in place emergency response
plans which effectively deal with incidents. Your LEPC is
following up on that meeting, reviewing and analyzing industry
scenarios to determine our emergency plans are adequate to
deal with potential emergencies. The LEPC is taking a closer
look at shelter-in-place procedures making sure our homes,
businesses and schools provide adequate protective shelter.
The City
of Deer Park is fortunate to have such a dedicated group of
professionals working to keep our city safe. Under the leadership
of my good friend and City Manager, Ron Crabtree, I expect
the LEPC to continue to be a national leader in community
awareness and emergency response.
Please
use this web site and let's work together to keep Deer Park
safe!
