BIRTHPLACE OF TEXAS
The City of Deer Park is known as the "Birthplace Of Texas" because Texas won its independence from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto fought on land that's now part of the City of Deer Park. You can see this monument off the Center Street exit heading westbound on State Highway 225
