Community Liaison

Responsibilities

The position of community liaison was created in 2007 to assist the department in strengthening its ties to the community. The liaison coordinates efforts between the public and the department throughout the year. Among the programs facilitated by the liaison are the Citizen's Police Academy (CPA), the Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association, National Night Out block parties, Kids' Fishing Day, Health and Safety Fairs, and various other community activities.

The community liaison is also responsible for maintaining active, as well as non active, registered sex offenders in the City of Deer Park.

Citizen's Police Academy

The CPA is 14 weeks of interactive, informative fun getting to know the inner operations of the Police Department. Each week officers and police employees cover their area of expertise regarding the how's and why's of policing. Topics range from Community Policing, SWAT, defensive tactics, firearms, investigations, dispatch, and much more.

If you are 18 or older and live, work, or attend school or church in Deer Park, we welcome your participation. There are no physical requirements for attending the classes, however we do complete background checks on each applicant.
